摘要: Measurements of length expansion and observations cracking plain reinforced concrete prisms with varying sizes amount reinforcement caused by alkali-silica reaction (ASR) are presented. Ends the were sealed to make data relatable existing structural members. The specimens made either reactive or nonreactive aggregates immersed in an alkali solution for one year accelerate ASR. Visible cracks appeared on after 4 months conditioning, when ASR was about 400 microstrain. Expansion that contained longitudinal bars greatly reduced reinforcement, dominant oriented direction parallel reinforcement. Strain close yield. effect from behavior beams mechanical properties companion cylinders accompanied these prism tests is reported separately.
