摘要: Semisolid tensile testing combined with X-ray microtomography (XMT) was used to characterize the development of internal damage as a function strain in an aluminum-magnesium alloy, AA5182. Novel techniques were developed allow quantification both size evolution and orientation determine mechanisms controlling early stage growth localization. During initial stages semisolid deformation, it observed that accommodated by as-cast porosity detection new damage-based voids. As volume fraction increases, voids occurs perpendicular loading direction, through expansion within grain boundary liquid void coalescence. The then localizes, causing failure.
