摘要: Purpose This study retrospectively evaluated implant survival of 631 osseointegrated implants installed in irradiated cancer patients over a 25-year period. Patients and methods The files 107 followed since 1979 were evaluated. Factors influencing as oncologic treatment, radiotherapy protocols, patient related elements analyzed. Results Compared with control group non-irradiated patients, failures higher after previous radiotherapy. High seen high dose long time irradiation. All craniofacial regions affected, but the highest frontal bone, zygoma, mandible, nasal maxilla. Lowest oral use fixtures, fixed retention, adjuvant hyperbaric oxygen therapy decreased failures. Noncontributing factors to gender, age, smoking habits, tumor type size, surgical osseointegration (OI) surgery experience. Conclusion Survival is so high, outcome from OI favorable that can be recommended. However, clinician should aware risks pitfalls treating such patients.
