Second-Order Nonlinear Optical Materials Based on Metal Iodates, Selenites, and Tellurites

摘要: In this chapter, the syntheses, structures, and Second Harmonic Generation (SHG) properties of metal iodates, selenites, tellurites all which contain a lone pair cation in an asymmetric coordination geometry were reviewed. A second building unit such as distorted octahedra d0 transition-metal (TM) cations V5+, Mo6+, other with stereochemically active Pb2+ Bi3+, tetrahedral groups BO 4 5− PO 3− , can be introduced into tellurites. The combination iodate afforded large number new display excellent SHG due to additive effects polarizations from both types units. Introducing lone-pair Bi3+ iodates is also effective strategy design materials. With respect selenite or tellurite systems, many compounds alkali alkaline earth-d0 TM–Se(IV)/Te(IV)–O systems exhibit Lanthanide posttransition main group element-d0 are usually structurally centrosymmetric not active, but they abundant structural diversities interesting magnetic luminescent properties. Metal selenites containing elements BO4 PO4 may form NCS structures
