摘要: Carbon fibre reinforced poly-etherether-ketone (PEEK) and poly-phenylene-sulfide (PPS) composites were rapidly surface-treated by high-power UV light, then adhesively bonded to aluminium 2024-T3 carbon fibre/epoxy composites. The results of a single lap-shear joint test demonstrated that UV-treatment lasting for 5 s was sufficient prevent failure occurring at the composite/adhesive interfaces in all cases, e.g. it increased strength PPS composite/aluminium joints from 11.1 MPa 37.5 MPa. Moreover, performed well upon an exposure environment high humidity temperature 8 weeks. Additionally, investigation 6 months showed no degradation surface functionalisation UV-irradiation. Overall, this work highlights UV-irradiation very promising method preparation thermoplastic (TPCs) adhesive joining, i.e. TPC with excellent structural integrity can be obtained using rapid, eco-friendly low-cost surface-treatment method.
