摘要: Abstract Mycorrhizal fungi may simultaneously associate with multiple plant hosts, and the implications of this for involved are not well understood. To address question, two arbuscular mycorrhizal (AMF), Glomus clairoideum (a treatment referred to as “Glo”) Scutellospora fulgida “Scut”), were grown separately in pots that each consisted compartments separated by a root-free-compartment (RFC). Fungi within two-plant-compartment pot exposed either individuals indiangrass (Sorghastrum nutans), big bluestem (Andropogon gerardii), or one each. A non-inoculated (“Non”) was included help gauge potential influence greenhouse contaminant fungi, cross-contamination, any misidentification non-AMF hyphae. The host species had additive effects on growth AM hyphae Scut, Glo, Non pots, RFCs Scut pots. In Glo RFCs, however, they antagonistic their effects. Synergism between hosts suggested contaminants could explain result. Underyielding seen shoot weight, root length dual also therefore Hyphal evenly distributed RFC (or marginally skewed toward RFC), while hyphal (nearer roots). However, lengths more highly correlated across common treatment, suggesting AMF bridged experience entire two-host single environment greater extent than did. These differed how responded both composition its spatial structure; community dynamics discussed.
