摘要: (1) In data where movements between discrete points have been recorded, the set of all possible observations is finite. Studying this potential gives us insight in limitations actual observations. (2) an analysis great tit from Wytham, Greenwood, Harvey & Perrins (1979) demonstrated that offspring resemble their parents distance moved nestbox birth to first breeding. They interpreted resemblance as heritable. It shown here a similar result may be obtained assuming one another are random. That dispersal follows differences sets starting bird was born. Had born box, would different one. (3) The and observed natal dispersal, no behaviour individuals, dependent on (i) average moved, (ii) size study area (iii) micro-distribution nestboxes over area. (4) Recommendations made how problems outlined can avoided.
