摘要: BACKGROUND Excessive daytime sleepiness is frequently reported as a symptom for OSA, leading to problems with concentration, mood and memory. MAD are considered an effective therapy control reducing EDS improving sleep quality. OBJECTIVES The present study aimed investigate the effects of mandibular advance device (MAD) on excessive (EDS) patients diagnosed obstructive apnea (OSA). METHODS Ten from Sleep Medicine Service "Hospital Geral Sanatorio" (Maceio, Alagoas, Brazil) were EDS, personalized was made each one them. Nocturnal polysomnography (NPSG) Maintenance wakefulness test (MWT) applied before (baseline) three months after continuous use MAD. number arousals microarousals at baseline treatment also evaluated. RESULTS All 10 completed investigation. A significant decrease in per night observed consecutive (P=0.0078; Wilcoxon signed-ranks test). Also, there reduction apnea/hypopnea index between post-treatment values (P=0.0001; paired-t test), well increase mean latency onset (MSL) MTW (P=0.0047; paired t- indicating difference among treatment. CONCLUSION We conclude that improvement associated used their quality sleep. This article protected by copyright. rights reserved.
