摘要: The HIV epidemic in Zimbabwe has increased the prevalence of child malnutrition. This descriptive study compared sociodemographic features nutritional profile and clinical 140 HIV-positive HIV-negative children 15 months age older with malnutrition admitted to Harare Hospital 1993-94. 68 (48.6%) were HIV-infected. There no significant differences between infected non-infected terms factors such as area residence maternal education caretaker breast feeding status. HIV-infected most likely have marasmus marasmic kwashiorkor; 64% group had kwashiorkor. Pneumonia lymphadenopathy chronic ear discharge oral thrush significantly more prevalent among children.
