摘要: During the first embryonic division in Caenorhabditis elegans, mitotic spindle is pulled toward posterior pole of cell and undergoes vigorous transverse oscillations. We identified variations trajectories by analyzing outwardly similar one-cell stage embryo its close relative briggsae. Compared with C. briggsae embryos exhibit an anterior shifting nuclei prophase reduced anaphase By combining physical perturbations mutant analysis both species, we show that differences can be explained interspecies changes regulation cortical Gα-GPR-LIN-5 complex. However, found species (1) a conserved positional switch controls onset oscillations, (2) GPR localization may set this switch, (3) maximum amplitude oscillations determined time spent oscillating phase. investigating microevolution subcellular process, identify new mechanisms are instrumental to decipher positioning.
