摘要: Summary PIWI-interacting RNAs (piRNAs) repress transposons to maintain germline genome integrity. Previous studies showed that artificial tethering of Armitage (Armi) reporter induced piRNA biogenesis. However, the lack female sterile (1) Yb (Yb) in Drosophila ovarian somatic cells (OSCs) impaired production transposon-targeting piRNAs, even presence Armi. Here, we show specific interaction Armi with RNA transcripts flamenco cluster, primary source piRNAs OSCs, is strictly regulated by Yb. The allowed bind promiscuously, leading unrelated transposon silencing. ATP hydrolysis-defective mutants failed unwind and were retained on them, abolishing production. These findings shed light distinct collaborative requirements We also provide evidence supporting direct involvement but not Zucchini-dependent phasing.
