ON THE SEMI-ANALYTICAL ESTIMATION OF LASER NOISE INFLUENCE ON DIRECT DETECTION TRANSMISSION SYSTEM PERFORMANCE

摘要: A new semi-analytical approach to estimate the influence of directly modulated semiconductor laser noise on direct detection system performance is proposed and its accuracy analysed utilizing rigorous mixed simulation. It shown that this gives a more precise upper bound than one obtained by other currently used, differences about 3dB can be observed between sensitivity estimates provided two approaches.
