Abnormal drug metabolism in chronic pancreatitis: Treatment with antioxidants

摘要: Abstract Functional and morphological changes in hepatocytes, indicating induction of the drug metabolizing enzymes free radical-mediated damage, were found 4 patients with idiopathic chronic pancreatitis. The possibility that reflux abnormal bile (rich lipid peroxidation other products generated through hepatic metabolism xenobiotics) into pancreatic duct may initiate damage was negated when ligation diversion did not abolish attacks pancreatitis 3 cases, although evidence indisputable 1 them who also had a pancreatoduodenectomy. Pancreatic acinar cells from patient showed extensive microvesiculation, as hepatocytes each case. Therefore, is prerequisite, it could compound injury head gland. Antioxidants prescribed to cases mentioned and, outset, fourth changes. This unconventional approach has held at bay during follow-up period 5 yr.
