摘要: Uterine function was assessed histologically in nonpregnant Molossus ater removed from a laboratory breeding colony. During the luteal phase of cycle, bilateral decidual reactions were found to develop spontaneously absence either embryos or experimental manipulation uterus. These included formation early giant cells, closure uterine lumina, and morphological changes endometrial blood vessels. Some endothelial cell hypertrophy noted much decidua, but this most pronounced vessels associated with an unusual vascular tuft that formed endometrium surrounding cranial end lumen. latter also developed very prominent basal laminae. In pregnant bats, played central role morphogenesis definitive discoidal chorioallantoic placenta. At cycles, decidua became necrotic sloughed off bleeding. As menstruating catarrhine primates, M. is vascularized by spiral arterioles populated distincitve granulocytes containing large, acidophilic granules. Increased coiling these did not appear be essential element mechanism menstruation species. monotocous, seasonal breeder, relatively long gestation period. Although it has bicornuate uterus, ovulation implantation occur only on right side tract. The ability menstruate probably affords bat efficient for eliminating highly differentiated usual site event reproductive failure. wild, may provide another chance establish pregnancy at still opportune time during same season.
