Large eddy simulations of turbulent planar jets of viscoelastic fluids

摘要: Direct numerical simulations and large-eddy of turbulent planar jets are used to assess the distortion similarity (DSIM) model, recently developed by Ferreira et al. [“Large-eddy forced isotropic turbulence with viscoelastic fluids described finitely extensible nonlinear elastic rheological model Peterlin's closure model,” Phys. Fluids 28, 125104 (2016)] for homogeneous turbulence, in simulation jets. Both a priori posteriori tests DSIM show that several assumptions development hold well inhomogeneous free flows, e.g., (i) scale subgrid-scale (SGS) polymer stretching (ii) local equilibrium energy production dissipation. The SGS term, together dynamic Smagorinsky is able reproduce flow structures classical one-point statistics should be equally simulate other shear flows fluids, wakes mixing layers.
