摘要: Araneoid spiders are renowned for their efficient capture of flying insects with intricate aerial webs. Origins this web structure obscure, however, because they rarely fossilize. Reported here is an exceptional situation trapped in part a gummy preserved runnel amber from Spain that ~110 million years old (Early Cretaceous). This the oldest direct evidence spider made by Araneoidea and its use predation. Thus, interception has minimum age coinciding explosive diversification angiosperms major pollinating groups insects.
