Diagnostic dilation and curettage: A reappraisal

摘要: Diagnostic dilation and curettage (D&C) is widely considered to be the method of choice for obtaining samples endometrium histologic examination, although scientific basis this assumption elusive. Despite extensive use D&C, tissue yield diagnostic accuracy technique have not been adequately evaluated. More known about these features a newer procedure, Vabra aspiration (VA). VA also appears safer, less expensive, more convenient than D&C. Until alleged benefits D&C can shown outweigh its risks costs (approaching one billion dollars per year in United States alone), probably should primary procedure used most endometrium.
