摘要: This chapter introduces the concept of biointerface engineering. The topology, chemical composition, and physicochemical properties material surfaces strongly impact their interactions with biomolecules, tissue cells, bacteria, or viruses. Adhesion, shape, motility, differentiation, ultimately, cell function apoptosis, can be steered by engineered surfaces. In this context, patterned interfaces dimensions from macro- to micro- nanoscale, presenting biochemical cues in a spatially controlled manner, have made major contributions interrogating various fundamental processes that steer response biomacromolecular cellular entities materials. A wide range patterning techniques are now at hand rely on either originally developed microelectronics industry and/or self-organization macromolecules, colloids, vesicles, viruses, ultimately allowing for positioning objects down molecular dimensions. Engineering is also becoming key technology fields biosensing, bioanalytics, medical diagnostics, lab-on-chip devices, drug discovery screening, covers an introduction overview nanopatterning interest community as well selected examples applications toward variety biologically relevant scientific studies.
