摘要: Many of the virulence factors that have been characterized for group A streptococci (GAS) are not expressed in all clinical isolates. One putative factor is present among most streptolysin O (Slo), a protein with well-characterized cytolytic activity many eukaryotic cells types. In other bacterial pathogens, proteins homologous to Slo shown be essential virulence, but role GAS had previously examined. To investigate we examined both revertible and stable slo mutants mouse model invasive disease. When mutant was used infect mice, reversion frequency bacteria isolated from wounds spleens infected animals more than 100 times inoculum, indicating there selective pressure animal Slo(+) GAS. Experiments demonstrated necessary formation necrotic lesions, nor it escape lesion cause disseminated infection. Bacteria were 50% mice survived infection mutant, dissemination Slo(-) does always Finally, exhibited significant decrease mortality rates compared wild-type (P < 0.05), plays an important virulence.
