摘要: In this chapter, we describe our recent work on the divergent properties of single, long descending motor-tract neurons in spinal cord, using method intra-axonal staining with horseradish peroxidase, and serial-section, three-dimensional reconstruction their axonal trajectories. This provides evidence that single are implicated neural implementation functional synergies for head movements. Our results further show medial vestibulospinal tract (MVST) innervate a set multiple neck muscles, thereby implement canal-dependent, head-movement synergy. Additionally, both MVST reticulospinal axons may have similar innervation patterns control same sets muscles. order to stabilize redundant systems which many muscles generate force across several joints, CNS routinely uses combination hierarchy sensory feedback. addition, system, elaboration among is another strategy, because it helps decrease degrees freedom particularly complicated system.
