Stabilization of Medium-Frequency Modes in Isolated Microgrids Supplying Direct Online Induction Motor Loads

摘要: Driven by the economical and environmental concerns, importance of distributed generation-based microgrids is increasing. However, presence induction motor (IM) loads in converter-based might induce source-load admittance mismatch between IM load microgrid converters leading to medium-frequency instabilities, particularly isolated microgrids. To overcome this issue, paper presents detailed small-signal models, analysis, stabilization a voltage-source inverter (VSI)-based with direct online load. The resultant source (VSI) admittances form multi-input-multi-output (MIMO) system. Using generalized Nyquist stability criterion, it shown that interactions lightly-damped dynamics IMs VSI-based have significant destabilizing effect. Active compensation techniques are proposed maintain system stability. Time-domain simulations experimental results presented validate theoretical analysis.
