摘要: Sun protection products contain a variety of UV-filters, among others, octyl-methoxycinnamate (OMC). Recently, an uterotrophic effect in immature rats has been reported, indicating that OMC might have estrogenic properties and thus is endocrine active chemical (EAC). However, determination activity the uterus only restricted approach with potential risk missing undesirable actions other organs regulated by estrogens. A pharmacodynamic experiment 5 dosages adult ovariectomized (ovx) was carried out to quantify multi-organic OMC. As control compound, estradiol-valerate (E2) included. Animals were treated per gavage for days. The expression levels markers action several measured RT-PCR. Effects on metabolic parameters assessed serum concentrations leptin, cholesterol, high low density lipoproteins (HDL LDL), glucose triglycerides. Observed changes upon treatment analyzed using NO(A)EL benchmark dose approach. From obtained data most sensitive parameter (truncated estrogen receptor protein 1 gene pituitary) we threshold values are exceeded recommended use containing formulations skin humans, therefore propose reduce cosmetic products. In addition OMC, non-estrogenic effects found this supporting need assessment putative EACs.
