摘要: Surface plasmon polaritons are non radiative modes which exist at the interface between a dielectric and metal. They can confine light sub-wavelength scales. However, their propagation is restricted by intrinsic losses of metal imply rapid absorption mode. The aim this thesis study coupling surface plasmons in metallo-dielectric planar structures. Obtaining properties implies extension solutions to complex plane constants. method used consists determining poles scattering matrix means Cauchy's integrals. first solution solve problem these one another. In symmetric medium, when thickness metallic film becomes thin enough, on each side possible. One coupled created, so-called long range plasmon, has bigger length than usual whereas other mode, named short smaller length. We present configuration allows excitation without mode with layer deposited perfect electric conductor substrate. This be done air applications, such as detection characterisation molecules. Then, we waveguides, and, particular, coupled-mode theory case transverse magnetic polarisation. consider also PT structure. last part work presents demonstration strong regime guided demonstrate an increase hybrid still confinement A linear gain added different layers When both enhancement lengths modes, more precisely propagate millimeter scale.
