摘要: This Nuclear Energy Research Initiative (NERI) project was tasked with exploring, adapting, developing and demonstrating innovative nondestructive test methods to automate nuclear coated particle fuel inspection so as provide the United States (US) necessary improved economical Quality Assurance Control (QA/QC) that is needed for fuels several reactor concepts being proposed both near term deployment [DOE NE & NERAC, 2001] Generation IV systems. Replacing present day QA/QC methods, done manually in many cases destructively, higher speed automated will make production advanced reactors economically feasible. For successful of next generation employ fuels, or form pebbles based on particles, extremely large numbers particles require at throughput rates do not significantly impact manufacturing processes. The focus examination (NDE) technologies can be speeds either: (I) On Process Measurements (II) In Line Measurements. selected enable “quality” qualification a group passes sensor. A multiple attribute dependent signature measured used process control decisions. primary task achieving this objective establish standard signatures good/acceptable most problematic types defects using methods.
