摘要: Whether “periodontal disease” can be considered as an independent risk factor for head and neck cancer (HNC) remains controversial. The aim of the current meta-analysis was to quantitatively assess this relationship in order determine whether represents a true factor, with implications prevention management. PubMed, Scopus, Embase databases were systematically searched. Selective studies reviewed, performed estimate pooled odds ratio (OR) 95% confidence intervals (CIs) on eligible using random effects model. In total, 21 observational (4 cohorts 17 case-controls) identified qualitative synthesis after review 1051 articles. Significant heterogeneity could measures utilized reporting periodontal disease. Meta-analysis nine that employed objective disease demonstrated significant association between HNC [OR 3.17, CI, 1.78–5.64]. A diseased periodontium marker, putative HNC. Prospective standardized severity extent, integrated microbiological host susceptibility facets, are needed elucidate mechanisms positive treatment former influences incidence outcomes
