摘要: This chapter provides a contemporary snapshot of water security in Australia today, and the key policy issues to maintain strengthen it into future. Its focus is on risks their management. Policy practice are gradually moving towards more sustainable use effective management scarcity quality, but pressures from population growth, economic development, climate change have been ever-present challenges. The details major urban areas, regional remote towns, irrigated agriculture, rainfed environment, mining, electricity generation. In addition well-known role markets agricultural sector, innovation all water-using sectors contributing maintaining security. Two areas where progress improving has slow also discussed. concludes with lessons Australian experience that may be relevant elsewhere.
