Analog Joint Source-Channel Coding for OFDM systems

摘要: Recently, analog Joint Source-Channel Coding (JSCC) has been shown to approach the optimal distortion-cost trade-off when transmitting over AWGN channels. In this work we consider JSCC frequency-selective channels using Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) modulation. Due its high complexity, MMSE decoding is infeasible in OFDM, hence a practical two-stage made up of estimator followed by Maximum Likelihood (ML) decoder proposed. Three different alternatives for system optimization are considered: non-adaptive coding, adaptive and coding with precoding. We show that three transmission strategies although much better performance obtained precoding method, specially Multiple Input Output (MIMO) OFDM systems.
