摘要: Abstract The optical properties of various scintillators (both single components and their mixtures) have been measured in order to choose the scintillator composition offering best compromise among requirements large volume detector Borexino experiment on solar neutrinos. A pre-selection most interesting binary or ternary mixtures has carried out by using a relatively simple fast method. This is based UV excitation solvent observation emission spectral region interest. results obtained allowed light output, response time attenuation lengths be evaluated for broad range mixtures. investigated greater depth ionizing radiation as source. were found good agreement with those In addition, α quenching β particles tested evaluate discrimination capability. comparison four laboratories different techniques methodologies, offered an exhaustive picture provided criteria choice mixture Borexino.
