摘要: The Capercaillie (Tetrao urogallus) is distributed along the whole Scandinavian mountain range, but so far few studies exist about habitat selection, reproductive success, survival rate, lek structure and distribution, etc. of in this region. In study, I searched for leks during years 2003-2007 valleys Mountain Range near village Tarnaby, Vasterbotten County. total, 20 sites were discovered, their locations landscape described, numbers territorial males at each counted. Within study area, influence by forestry small, compared to situation on lower elevations more central part boreal forest region where most capercaillie have been performed. Observation area suggests that distribution number attending different than other parts Fennnoscandia. typically found upper coniferous forest, edge between spruce birch vegetation belts, or forests mixed with Norway (Picea abies) (Betula pubescens ssp. Czerepanovii). height varied from 0 25 m, tree 10 18 m was preferred areas leks. valley, also broader belts forest.
