摘要: OBJECTIVES Aging is associated with low muscle mass and has been linked to adverse health outcomes. The objectives of this cross-sectional study were: (1) describe anthropometry, body composition, appendicular skeletal index (ASMI; mass/height2), prevalence ASMI in older people normal nutritional status (Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool score = 0); (2) determine factors ASMI, odds ratios having ASMI. METHODS SHIELD a community-dwelling aged 65 years above Singapore. was determined using bioelectrical impedance analysis defined as <7.0 kg/m2 for males <5.7 females (Asian Working Group Sarcopenia, 2014). RESULTS A total 400 (183 217 females) took part study. overall 20.6% (15.5% 24.9% females). Females had significantly lower than (P < 0.0001), age inversely 0.0024) while BMI calf circumference were positively (both P 0.0001) the cohort. In addition, bone both genders 0.0001). After adjusting covariates, every 1 year 10 increase 1.13 (95% CI: 1.06, 1.20) 3.36 1.82, 6.21) respectively. CONCLUSIONS high highlights need early screening. There strong inverse association between BMI, These findings will give further weight importance development public strategies maintaining improving population group.
