摘要: We present optical, linear polarimetry in broad-band UBVRI filters plus narrow-band centered on the emission lines of H-alpha and red forbidden N II spectropolarimetry wavelength range from 4120 A to 6770 luminous blue variable R127 LMC. Both observations display a decrease percentage polarization across line with respect continuum. assume that is recombination-line dominated thus intrinsically unpolarized, we use continuum subtracted estimate interstellar foreground polarization. The resulting amount intrinsic very large, order 1-1.5 percent, implying both presence copious free electrons considerable asphericity their distribution. two data sets, taken months apart, significant variations polarization, which confirms stellar-wind properties are time-dependent maximum state. discuss several possible wind geometries arguments favoring clumpy, axisymmetric outflow.
