Application of an RFID-based system for construction waste transport: a case in Shanghai

摘要: Effective management of construction waste imposes a big challenge to cities with large volume activities. Shanghai had handle these problems in preparing the 2010 World Expo such as overloading trucks, traffic safety on road, environment pollution, and heavy manpower needed supervise transport process. This paper presents our effort applying Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology reengineer transport. Details new RFID-based system are introduced an in-depth comparison traditional system. A Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation (FCE) method is used validate effectiveness Case studies show that helps better monitor transportation procedure avoid existing significantly. On other hand, it shows stakeholders project owners contractors not always satisfied governments' strong position system, which might prevent wide application RFID
