摘要: Cumulative evidence of gray matter abnormalities in semantic dementia (SD) has been reported using voxel-based morphometry (VBM). However, these studies have not reviewed quantitatively. To estimate changes SD quantitatively, we systematically searched whole-brain VBM comparing patients with healthy controls the PubMed, ISI Web Science, and EMABSE databases from January 1990 to August 2011. Coordinates significant differences between volumes were extracted clusters. Meta-analysis was performed anatomic likelihood estimation. Seven studies, 68 167 controls, included. Gray volume reductions found bilateral fusiform inferior temporal gyri, extending medial portion lobes (including amygdala parahippocampal gyri), left pole, middle gyrus, caudate. No increase found. Our findings provide strong atrophy predominate impairment on side, gyrus/amygdala, caudate, representing pathophysiology SD.
