摘要: The aim of this study was to test the hypothesis that dorsal hippocampus plays a critical role in pontine-wave (P-wave) generator activation-dependent memory processing two-way active avoidance (TWAA) learning. To achieve objective, rats were given small bilateral lesions CA1, dentate gyrus (DG), or CA3 region by microinjecting ibotenic acid. After recovery, lesioned and sham-lesioned trained on TWAA learning paradigm, allowed 6-hr period undisturbed sleep, then tested same paradigm. It found impaired retention Conversely, CA1 DG regions had no effect retention. None groups showed any changes baseline sleep–wake cycle acquisition All increased rapid eye movement (REM) sleep REM P-wave density during subsequent recording period. Impaired group occurred despite an increase density, suggesting interacts with aid consolidation results present thus demonstrate requires intact subfield hippocampus. also provide evidence under mnemonic pressure, may not be involved directly regulating cycle. © 2005 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
