摘要: Abstract Background Cardiac pacing is the treatment of choice for cardioinhibitory carotid sinus syndrome (CSS), but syncope recurrence occurs in up to 20% patients within 3 years. The present study aims at assessing incidence and identifying predictors receiving therapy CSS. Methods Syncope Clinics two large regional hospitals Northern Italy, both following European Guidelines, combined perform this study. Retrospective analysis 3127 consecutive undergoing massage (CSM) was performed 2004–2014. Ten-second supine standing CSM systematically assessed aged >40 years with suspected reflex as part initial evaluation. investigated those paced CSS having >6 months' available follow-up. Data were collected from clinical records patient interviews. Results diagnosed 261 (8.3%). Pacemakers implanted 158, follow-up data 112: 19 (17%) experienced 73 recurrences during a mean 89 ± 42 months, yielding an 0.5 episodes per patient/year. Prodrome, predisposing situations preceding chronic nitrate more frequent reporting recurrence. Prodrome remained independent post-implantation on multivariable analysis. Conclusions cause syncope, if Most treated by remain asymptomatic long-term In who have recurrence, its very low. are suggesting presence hypotensive susceptibility.
