摘要: Traditional vaccination strategies that use needles or require multiple dosages using an invasive route suffer from the problems of administration, needle borne cross-contamination, expenses, and patient compliance. Mucosal vaccine delivery is potentially advantageous; however, limitations mucosal delivery, including low pH, gastric enzymes, rapid transit poor absorption large molecules, have made this challenging. The M cell targeting a potential approach to enhance efficacy which can be achieved cell-specific lectins, microbial adhesins immunoglobulins. Such will likely critical for development more effective vaccines. While many hurdles must overcome before targeted becomes practical reality, area research has important implications future development.
