摘要: The morphologies of native and chloroform-methanol-treated mycobacteriophage R1 were compared by electron microscopy, utilizing three negative stains. was determined to be a complex phage. head appears as an elongated cylinder with pointed end (93 +/- 3 42 nm) constructed from orderly arrangement capsomeres. phage tail measures 209 11 1 nm possesses striated surface two base plates at its distal end. Treatment chloroform-methanol resulted in disruption both the structures accompanied loss infectivity. However, because no likely lipid-containing structure observed phages, there is possibility that mechanism inactivation something other than lipid extraction.
