摘要: A thermally compensated tube scanner scanning tunneling microscope utilizes two concentric piezoelectric tubes, one for and coarse translation as well fine adjustment of sample position while in range. There are no mechanical components such springs, levers, gears, or stepper motors which known to result considerable vibration sensitivity thermal drift. Consequently, the standard mode atomic resolution operation device is without isolation with a drift less than 1 angstrom per hour.
