摘要: Recent years have seen increasing interest in the fetus, fetal medicine and developmental abnormality. Widespread application of genetic counselling sophistication techniques for prenatal diagnosis led to an appreciation importance diagnosing abnormalities spontaneous induced abortions, as well stillbirths neonatal deaths. Genetic counsellors advising patients on likelihood recurrent problems pregnancies subsequent birth abnormal child will be critically dependent accuracy information a firm diagnosis, which frequently rest hands pathologist. In this expanding field pathologist is now called upon examine losses, confirm fetuses terminated after diagnostic screening procedures differentiate between similar appearances but quite different aetiologies therefore, with prognostic implications.
