Polymyositis of the skeletal muscles as an extraintestinal complication in quiescent ulcerative colitis.

摘要: Myositis of the skeletal muscle is a rare complication inflammatory bowel disease. We report about 33-year-old woman with quiescent ulcerative colitis known since 1995. She had suffered from recurring fever and pain in thighs for 4 weeks. Electromyography quadriceps deltoid muscles revealed myopathic changes. Diagnosis polymyositis was confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging indicating edematous changes distal extremity muscles. The symptoms rapidly responded to high doses steroids. Review literature indicates only few cases describing an association myositis, most them during acute exacerbations In contrast, present patient remission. myositis should be considered disease patients complaining myalgia or muscular weakness. Magnetic may show specific features can used addition laboratory investigations biopsy diagnosis polymyositis.
