摘要: Abstract The role of older business operators has been largely ignored in contemporary entrepreneurship research, even though 31% all Australian SMEs are owned and operated by persons over the age 50. Long term demographic trends throughout developed world suggest that such entrepreneurs will come to play an increasingly important part economic activity, as populations traditional workforce cohort declines. This paper provides overview current research into phenomena so-called “grey entrepreneur” (also variously known senior entrepreneurs, third elder senior-preneurs), drawing on from Australia, United Kingdom, New Zealand USA. Little direct information exists about structure, performance features firms grey how they compare with their younger counterparts. data does indicate a majority male, although increasing numbers women also operating own business. A number potential factors appear have impact activities likely success entrepreneurs. Potential advantages can possess include greater experience, superior networks more financial resources. Some theorized problems working against many failing health (energy levels), lower education levels, family life cycles, broader social framework which people operate. Many issues relating this phenomenon still require investigation. Research area differences terminology definitions, determining appropriate point at person rightfully be said qualify “older” entrepreneur, practical problem operationalising entrepreneurial marketplace.
