Josephson junction microwave amplifier in self-organized noise compression mode

摘要: The fundamental noise limit of a phase-preserving amplifier at frequency is the standard quantum . In microwave range, best candidates have been amplifiers based on superconducting interference devices (reaching temperature 700 MHz) and non-degenerate parametric levels close to 8 GHz). We introduce new type an negative resistance selectively damped Josephson junction. Noise performance our limited by mixing from oscillation regime down signal frequency. Measurements yield nearly quantum-limited operation, 2.8 GHz, owing self-organization working point. Simulations describe characteristics device well indicate potential for wide bandwidth operation.
