摘要: Baylisascaris procyonis, a roundworm infection of raccoons, is emerging as an important helminthic zoonosis, principally affecting young children. Raccoons have increasingly become peridomestic animals living in close proximity to human residences. When B. procyonis eggs are ingested by host other than raccoon, migration larvae through tissue, termed larval migrans, ensues. This can invade the brain and eye, causing severe disease death. The prevalence raccoons often high, infected shed enormous numbers their feces. These survive environment for extended periods time, infectious dose relatively low. Therefore, risk exposure may be greater currently recognized.
