摘要: A severe bacterial disease was observed in lettuce plants during surveys carried out the province of Bari (Apulia, Italy). Symptoms were chlorosis and wilting older leaves, water-soaked dark green soft rot pith. Several isolates obtained from affected by isolations on semi-selective crystal violet pectate agar medium. Biochemical, nutritional, pathogenicity tests identified them as Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. carotovorum. The nutritional profile using Biolog system 434 bp product amplified PCR primers designed P. lyase-encoding gene sequence further confirmed identity isolates. Some epidemiological aspects pathogen main measures to prevent control are reported.
