摘要: In response to the recent focus by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on bioassessment of lakes, a multimetric index was developed for New Jersey lakes and reservoirs using benthic macroinvertebrates. Benthic samples were collected from reference impaired with muck intermediate sediments in central northern during summer 1997. We used stepwise process evaluate properties candidate metrics selected five Lake Macroinvertebrate Integrity Index (LMII): Hilsenhoff Biotic (HBI), percent chironomid individuals, collector-gatherer taxa, oligochaetes/leeches, number Diptera taxa. scored as fraction best expected value (based all sites) achieved at site summed them into LMII. Evaluation LMII showed that it discriminated well between strongly related several potential stressors. Chemical physical gradients distinguished summarized these well. The corresponded land use, but some more urban use still high scores. Based power analysis, ability detect differences condition sensitive each lake.
