Simulation of the Madden–Julian Oscillation in the NCAR CCM3 Using a Revised Zhang–McFarlane Convection Parameterization Scheme

摘要: Abstract This study presents the simulation of Madden–Julian oscillation (MJO) in NCAR CCM3 using a modified Zhang–McFarlane convection parameterization scheme. It is shown that, with scheme, intraseasonal (20–80 day) variability precipitation, zonal wind, and outgoing longwave radiation (OLR) enhanced substantially compared to standard simulation. Using composite technique based on empirical orthogonal function (EOF) analysis, paper demonstrates that simulated MJOs are better agreement observations than model many important aspects. The amplitudes 850-mb OLR comparable those observations, show clearly eastward propagation from Indian Ocean Pacific. In contrast, weak have tendency propagate westward Ocean.
