摘要: A number of polysaccharides showed good antiviral activity against several animal viruses. At 5 micrograms/ml, carrageenan prevented the cell monolayer from destruction by herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) growth. 10 reduced formation new infectious HSV-1 almost five logs. No cytotoxic effects were detected with concentrations up to 200 micrograms/ml. When micrograms per ml was added at beginning infection HeLa cells, there potent inhibition viral protein synthesis, and cells continued synthesizing cellular proteins. This did not occur if h after infection. The use [35S]methionine-labeled virions analyze entry or Semliki Forest into indicated that had no effect on attachment entry. Moreover, block early permeabilization toxic alpha-sarcin. These results suggest this sulfated polysaccharide inhibits a step in replication subsequent internalization but prior onset late synthesis.
