摘要: Abstract Magnetospheric physics owes its beginnings to the seventeenth- and eighteenth-century scientists who were fascinated by one of most spectacular natural phenomena, aurora. In first section, a brief historical account growth magnetospheric solar-terrestrial is given. The main part paper reviews recent progress in physics, particular, understanding substorm. A number phenomena can now be understood viewing solar wind-magnetosphere interaction as an MHD dynamo; auroral are powered dynamo. We have also succeeded identifying responses variations north-south east-west components interplanetary magnetic field. substorm entirely different from magnetosphere southward component It may associated with formation neutral line within plasma sheet enhanced reconnection along line. substorm-associated noting that new caused short-circuiting magnetotail current.
