VECTOR PARALLEL PROGRAMMING AND PERFORMANCE OF A SPECTRAL ATMOSPHERIC MODEL ON THE EARTH SIMULATOR

摘要: A spectral atmospheric general circulation model called AFES for climate studies was developed and optimized the Earth Simulator. The is a global three-dimensional hydrostatic using transform method. We achieved an extremely high efficiency executing in T1279L96 resolution on performances of 26.58 Tflops 10-timestep run 23.93 1-day simulation were all 5120 processors. These correspond to 64.9% 58.4%. respectively, theoretical peak performance 40.96 Tflops. T1279 resolution, equivalent about 10 km horizontal grid interval at equator, very close highest which approximation valid. To our best knowledge, no other atmosphere has ever been performed with such super resolution. Currently, possible only Simulator AFES. In this paper we describe vector parallel programming, optimization method computational performance.
