摘要: Die Monoamin-Oxidase (MAO, EC 1.4.2.4; Amin: Sauerstoff-Oxidoreduktase [desaminierend]) ist ein relativ unspezifisches mitochondriales Enzym. Es metabolisiert monoaminerge Neurotransmitter (wie Adrenalin, Noradrenalin, Dopamin) und Neuromodulatoren (α-Phenethylamin), andere endogene exogene Monoamine Tyramin), aber auch tertiare Amine wie das dopaminerge Neurotoxin 1-Methyl-4phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridin (MPTP) entsprechend folgender Nettoreaktionsgleichung (YouDIM et al. 1988, GERLACH RIEDERER 1993).
